Trump Supporters Chant ‘Lock Her Up’ at Rally Hours After Manafort Conviction and Cohen Plea

Supporters of President Donald Trump chanted “lock her up!” and “drain the swamp!” at a Charleston, West Virginia rally held just hours after longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen took a guilty plea and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort received a conviction.

“Manchin strongly supported and voted for Hillary Clinton after she said we’re gonna’ put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of work,” GOP Senate candidate Patrick Morrisey said of his opponent Senator Joe Manchin at the start of Trump’s rally. “Manchin even called Hillary warm, compassionate, engaging, tough — can you actually believe that?”

“Lock her up!” The crowd quickly shouted almost as soon as Morrisey uttered the name Hillary Clinton.

“Drain the swamp!” They added.

Apparently, Trump’s supporters don’t see the irony in chanting “lock her up” on the same day that two of the president’s former close allies were convicted or pled guilty to doing numerous crimes, but the hilarity was not lost on the pundits and journalists, as numerous notable media personalities got on Twitter and jumped on the obvious joke:
