Tucker Carlson Clashes With Climate Change Activist: You’re Focused On ‘Your Own Moral Virtue!’

On Friday night, Tucker Carlson had a heated exchange with a climate change activist over whether the recent “bomb cyclone” that slammed the U.S. in recent days was the result of global warming.

Josh Fox, a documentary filmmaker and environmentalist, sarcastically called Carlson’s intro to the segment “amazing” because everything the Fox News host said (in jest) was true. Carlson responded by saying he was “open-minded” and that he believes in science. However, he told Fox he was “confused” whenever activists say that hot temperatures are a “sign of global warming” and go on to say that cold temperatures are another sign as well as wet and dry conditions.

“How could that all be true?” Carlson asked.

Fox responded by saying that climate change “increases the extreme” of various weather events, including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. But the conversation began derailing when Carlson tried pressing him on the record-low temperatures and when Fox pulled out a map showing the world temperatures.

“Now you see the blue right there, that is North America. That means it’s colder than average,” Fox explained to Carlson. “But if you look at the rest of the planet, it’s warmer than average. That means when you talk about global warming, you look at the entire globe. Not just New York City.”

Carlson then accused Fox of “filibustering” because he’s “fearful of answering a straight-forward question.” After questioning his guest about conflicting reports from a few years ago predicting a lack of snow, Fox deflected to the devastation he witnessed in St. Thomas from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

“I want to be very specific and can you just respond to my specific question?” Carlson asked.

“Your question is nonsensical, Tucker,” Fox shot back. “Your question has no basis in science. You’re saying ‘well, we have one article here and one article there.'”

“No!” Carlson cut in. “I’m saying that the same people are making contradictory claims!”

After Fox told Carlson that he’s been investigating climate change because he doesn’t want “children in harm’s way,” Carlson mocked him by saying he was “calling attention” to his “own moral virtue.”

“All of you guys immediately go when asked a simple question, you go ‘I’m a good person! I care!'” Carlson laughed.

He cut the interview short because he claimed it was “too frustrating” to get Fox to answer his questions.
