WATCH: David Zaslav Floats Prospect of a Reunion With Chris Licht, the Former CNN Boss He Fired
Warner Brothers Discovers CEO David Zaslav lavished praise on Chris Licht — the ex-CNN chief whom Zaslav fired — and even hinted at a potential reunion.
Speaking at The New York Times‘ Dealbook summit on Wednesday, Zaslav was asked by moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin to talk about Licht — who just happened to be in the audience. Zaslav raved about the man he dumped ignominiously back in June.
“Great guy,” Zaslav said. “Talented guy … Chris is a good friend.”
The Warner Brothers Discovery chief went on to deliver a summation of Licht’s CNN tenure.
“There were a lot of great days, there was a lot of tough days,” Zaslav said of Licht’s ever-brief 466-day stint as the network’s boss. He added, “We had a lot of fun, a lot of battles together.”
And then, with Licht looking on, Zaslav floated the idea of bringing Chris Licht back into his company.
“Chris is going to have a lot of great chapters and hopefully some of those with us at Warner Brothers,” Zaslav said. “Very talented.”
