WATCH Sharon Osbourne Lash Out About Racism Meltdown Episode in New Interview: ‘How Dare They Do This To Me?’
The Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne lashed out at her show and network over the episode that led to a viral meltdown that has forced the show into a (for now) temporary hiatus.
On Tuesday’s edition of Entertainment Tonight, Osbourne revealed a pact that she and co-hosts Sheryl Underwood, Elaine Welteroth, Carrie Ann Inaba (absent during Osborne’s meltdown), and Amanda Kloots made never to surprise each other, following a February episode in which Inaba was forced to blindside Welteroth with an insensitive and awkward question.
Osbourne said that’s why she felt betrayed when her co-hosts pressed her about defending Piers Morgan, and specifically with regard to the charges of racism leveled against him.
“And I went, like, how dare you all do this to me! I’m your sacrificial lamb!” Osbourne said but went on to say that her anger is reserved for CBS executives, whom she claims were behind the “blindside,” and that it was she who requested the investigation that has put the show on hiatus.
She also claimed the other hosts wouldn’t talk to her during the commercial break, and revealed that Underwood hasn’t spoken to her despite a personal, private apology.
Asked if she’s spoken to Morgan, Osbourne replied “He checks in on me every day, and he feels really me standing up for his right of speech has got me where I am today.”
When and if the show returns, Osbourne said that “I wish we could go on and have an adult conversation calmly and work it out but I don’t know whether we can,” but added “I don’t know whether it’s gone past that. I would love to but I don’t know whether I even want to go back,” or “whether I’m wanted there.”
