WATCH: Syrian Anchor Dives for Cover as Israeli Strike Rocks Damascus Right Behind Her During Live Broadcast

An Israeli airstrike on Syria’s military headquarters in central Damascus was caught live on air Wednesday, rocking the city and sending a visibly shaken news anchor diving for cover mid-broadcast.

The clip, circulating widely on social media, captures the moment of the strike, which occurred just as the anchor is discussing Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz’s threat of a strike.

A third Israeli strike, targeting the city’s presidential palace, was captured during a live Al Jazeera broadcast:

The attack marks an escalation in Israel’s military campaign across its northern border, as sectarian clashes in southern Syria spiral.

The Israeli military confirmed the strike, which it said targeted Syrian regime forces involved in suppressing Druze communities in Sweida, a region that has seen days of bloody fighting between Druze militants and Bedouin tribes.

Katz said the attacks would continue “until [Syrian forces] withdraw from the area,” warning that Israel will “soon raise the bar of responses against the regime if the message is not understood.”

The assault on Damascus came as Syria’s transitional government, led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, continues to establish control in the aftermath of Bashar al-Assad’s ouster last year.

Turkey and neighboring states have condemned Israel’s expanding operations in Syria, warning that they could derail fragile efforts by the Sharaa government to stabilize the country, still emerging from nearly 14 years of civil war.
