Will Joe Biden Announce 2016 Run on Colbert’s Late Show Next Week?

Stephen Colbert may have to settle for Jeb Bush on his first night hosting CBS’ Late Show, with his preferred option of Donald Trump going to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show instead. But later in his premiere week, Colbert has booked another political guest who could use the show to make big news: Vice President Joe Biden.
Amidst increased speculation that Biden is about to jump into the Democratic presidential primary race in a direct challenge to Hillary Clinton, his jut-announced appearance on the Late Show next Thursday, September 10, is sure to draw a lot of curious eyeballs.
Colbert made the announcement on Twitter, and got a RT from the VP himself:
September 10th, #LSSC welcomes @VP Joe Biden! Wait, if he’s here, who’s Vice Presidenting the country?
— Stephen Colbert (@StephenAtHome) September 1, 2015
While it seems somewhat unlikely that Biden would use his first time on Colbert’s Late Show couch to announce his decision to run for president, it is plausible that he could use the opportunity to announce that he has decided to forgo a 2016 campaign. At the very least, their interview is guaranteed to include plenty of awkward teases and speculation over the question on everyone’s minds.
After Bush and Biden, Colbert will welcome more high-profile guests from Washington the following week, including Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer on Monday, September 14 and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Friday, September 18.
