‘You See That Mullet?’ OJ Lawyer Slams Simpson’s ‘Prison BFF’ as ‘Fraud and a Phony’

O.J. Simpson lawyer Malcolm LaVergne went on a lengthy diatribe during the press conference after his client’s parole, slamming Jeffrey Felix, a former correctional officer who claims to have been Simpson’s ‘prison BFF’ during his 9-year incarceration in Nevada.

Felix penned a self-published tell-all about his relationship with Simpson, titled Guarding the Juice: How O.J. Simpson Became My Prison BFF, in which he claims the former football star was his closest confidante at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Center.

A number of the stories revealed by Felix — including one involving a stolen cookie — threatened to upend Simpson’s bid for parole.

During LaVergne’s televised presser after the parole hearing, he was asked a question by a reporter about Felix’s allegations, and responded by tarring the retired officer.

“Listen, do you know that Jeffrey Felix is a complete fraud?” the lawyer started, adding that he saw the reporter talking about Felix on ESPN earlier. “Can’t you tell that that guy is the biggest fraud on the planet? You can’t see that that guy is a massive fraud?”

“He self-published a book, that should have told you already one thing,” LaVergne continued. “I’ve said a million times through your producers that this guy is a fraud and a phony, and every single thing he has in that book is made up.”

“So I don’t want to take any questions from you,” LaVergne told the reporter, “because you have gone on and perpetrated a fraud for this Jeff Felix, who is supposedly the ‘guarding the Juice guy,’ you embarrass and make a mockery of the corrections officers over here who are doing a really good job.”

LaVergne next took aim at Felix’s grooming considerations, asking the reporter “I mean, you see that mullet and how his hair is dyed right? You don’t buy credibility from people who are like that, who even look like that.”

The lawyer argued the reporter should have done a better job vetting the comments of Felix, and said he would refuse to answer any further questions about the officer.

LaVergne went on to note that “this has agitated [him] so much,” that he is looking to make Felix suffer the consequences of violating his confidentiality agreement by publishing the tell-all book.

“I’m starting the process right now of getting his pension stripped,” LaVergne declared. “So let’s see how he likes that when he sees the consequences of his actions right now. So I’m just going to yank his pension benefits. Next question.”
