WATCH: CNN Anchor Literally Cries Laughing As Entire Studio Cracks Up Over Groundhog Day Silliness
CNN anchor Kate Bolduan literally cried laughing as the entire studio cracked up over John Berman’s deadpan reporting on ridiculous Groundhog Day observances that include a weather-predicting lobster.
America’s stupidest holiday — which gave us one of our finest films — is upon us, and apparently, there are a slew of non-groundhogs trying to get in on the action.
On Friday’s edition of CNN News Central, Berman brought the entire studio — particularly Bolduan — to a crescendo of laughter with his delivery of increasingly absurd local Groundhog Day stunts:
JOHN BERMAN: And if you’re looking for some warmer weather, look at this.
The national media scam. Punxsutawney Phil, the renowned groundhog weather predictor. He says there will be an early spring. Connecticut’s Scramble the Duck agrees with Phil. His City of Eastford claims he has been 100% accurate.
But Lucy the lobster in Nova Scotia–.
KATE BOLDUAN: What’s happening?
JOHN BERMAN: I lost the thread here. (laughter) Lucy the Lobster in Nova Scotia says not so fast. Apparently the lobster saw her shadow, which means–.
KATE BOLDUAN: Wait what– (laughter).
JOHN BERMAN: Maybe another six weeks of winter. All right, there’s more. Bee Cave Bob, (off-screen laughter) the Texas Armadillo will make its prediction this afternoon. Kate.
KATE BOLDUAN: Wait what? (crying laughing) Can a lobster see its shadow? Like. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do here other than I, I I’ve completely lost it.
Other than that, I like the movie Groundhog Day. I don’t know, how do you feel about it, John? Why do you just put the camera on me? To have the reaction and humiliate myself in front of several people?
JOHN BERMAN: I am trying to reach Lucy the Lobster right now.
KATE BOLDUAN: I would like you to get her on the phone. And then after that, call the armadillo and ask them why his name or her name is Be Cave.
JOHN BERMAN: Their name?
KATE BOLDUAN: Their name? Thank you John. That was a good one. Okay. We’re going to continue following that, but we’re also going to take you back to Michigan for real news.
