‘Where is That Plan?!’ Trump Grilled On Lack of a Healthcare Proposal in Tense Skirmish to Open ’60 Minutes’ Showdown

President Donald Trump’s 60 Minutes interview got off to an eventful start on Sunday night, with correspondent Norah O’Donnell pressing the president on what his “plan” was to replace Obamacare, which Trump said was “terrible” and needed to be revamped.

Securing extensions on Obamcare subsidies for 20 million Americans, O’Donnell noted, is the issue Democrats care most about right now — and why the federal government remains shutdown. Trump said if Dems are willing to open the government, he is willing to “fix” Obamacare with them.

“But where is that plan? But where is that plan?” O’Donnell asked.

Trump told her that improving healthcare would be much easier if he hadn’t inherited a mess from ex-President Joe Biden.

“I’m willing to work with the Democrats on it, the problem is, they want to give money to prisoners, to drug dealers, to all these millions of people that were allowed to come in with an open border from Biden, and nobody can do that,” Trump said.

That exchange punctuated a back-and-forth opening that focused on both healthcare and the shutdown.

“The Democrats keep voting against ending [the shutdown]… all we’re saying is give us an extension, we’ll work it out,” Trump said a moment earlier. “They’ve lost their way. They’ve become crazed lunatics.”

He then criticized Obamacare, saying it was “bad healthcare at far too high a price.” He said he wanted to fix that, though, if Democrats would vote to open the government.

“So you’re saying your plan is to tell the Democrats to vote to end the shutdown and that you will put forward a healthcare plan?”

The president said “no,” that he would simply work with Democrats on the issue.

“But Mr. President, with all due respect, you’ve been talking about fixing [healthcare] since 2015,” O’Donnell jumped in to add.

The president said that is true, but that he “can’t because of the Democrats.”
