‘I Want to Be Crystal Clear’: Watch Biden Campaign Co-Chair Insist the President Was Staying in Just HOURS Before Dropping Out
Just hours before President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 race, the co-chairman of his campaign insisted the president was staying in.
Appearing on Face the Nation Sunday, Biden-Harris campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond told CBS’ Margaret Brennan the president would remain on the 2024 ballot.
“I want to be crystal clear,” Richmond said. “He’s made a decision. And that decision is to accept the nomination, and run for reelection, win reelection. And I think that there are those out there that need to hear it again, that he made a decision, he’s going to be the candidate, he’s going to be the next president. And now it’s time to focus on the threat that Donald Trump poses and what the extreme agenda is on the other side.”
Richmond appeared live on the show shortly after 11 a.m. ET. — less than three hours before Biden announced his exit. Yet the top Biden surrogate was firm — telling Brennan the speculation about Biden quitting was a waste of time.
“Every moment that we continue to talk about a decision that has already been made means that’s a moment we’re not talking about Project 2025 or a former president who’s trying to divide the country,” Richmond said.
