Jimmy Kimmel Breaks Down Over Fires — Bitterly Condemns Trump and His ‘Gaggle of Scumbags’ Saying Firefighters ‘Aren’t White Enough’

Jimmy Kimmel — in his first show since the wildfires broke out in the Los Angeles area — delivered an emotional condemnation of President-elect Donald Trump and his allies.

In a solemn monologue on Monday, the ABC late night host recounted what he called a “very scary, very stressful, very strange” week in Los Angeles. He tossed to footage that showed just how close his studio was to one of the fires.

“Everyone who lives in the city knows someone, most of us multiple people — families, friends, colleagues, neighbors — whose houses burned down,” Kimmel said, as his voice broke. “And the truth is we don’t even know if it’s over.”

From there, Kimmel pivoted to denounce Trump and his allies for their rhetoric focusing on DEI in the L.A. fire department.

“I don’t want to … get into all the vile, and irresponsible, and stupid things our alleged future president and his gaggle of scumbags chose to say during our darkest and most terrifying hour,” Kimmel said. “The fact that they chose to attack our firefighters — who apparently aren’t white enough to be out there risking their lives on our behalf — it’s disgusting but it’s not surprising.”

Kimmel added, “Instead, I want to focus on thanking those men and women.” That line was met with heavy applause from the studio audience — which rose to give the first responders a standing ovation.

The ABC host mostly steered clear of politics for the rest of his 15-minute-long show open. But Kimmel did fling one additional jab towards the Right.

“Remember when hurricanes hit Florida a few months ago, and they were saying the Democrats, the far-Left, secretly controls the rain?” Kimmel said. “I think we finally proved we do not.”
