John Fetterman Torches ‘Abandon Biden’ Dems For ‘Helping’ Trump: ‘Dumbest S**t I’ve Ever Heard’

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) slammed progressive Democrat threats to abandon President Joe Biden as the “dumbest shit” and criticized those part of the movement on the left within his party for “de facto helping” former President Donald Trump return to the White House.

Fetterman made the remarks during an interview on Fox News Sunday with host Shannon Bream to discuss pushback from party colleagues over his advocacy for Israel’s ongoing campaign against Hamas in Gaza. The senator, who returned recently from a visit to Israel, described his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “an honor.”

There is, however, a growing dissatisfaction among groups of progressives with Biden’s handling of the war and relations with Israel, with discord compounded following Biden’s presidential debate performance last Thursday.

The host asked: There is a left wing of your party, more progressive, that differs with you on [Israel]. They are asking for totally different things, pointing the blame at different places. They’ve been very vocal. Are you worried about how that might impact President Biden’s ability to shore up the Democrats and win reelection knowing the other voices are calling? Some of them have a movement called Abandon Biden. They’ve supported him in the past and now they’re actively campaigning against him.”

Fetterman replied: “That whole Abandon Biden thing, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. If you are more inclined to vote for a Democrat or be a Democrat, if you are willing to walk away from Joe Biden you are by de facto helping Trump, and that’s really what it is. If that kind of movement has that kind of move and they went to play with that kind of fire they better earn that burn.”

He continued: Now, especially because people have turned their backs on Joe Biden, it’s going to mean everyone is going to be all hands on the deck. And that continued to talk about this is a very stark choice. What kind of president do you want for the next four years?”

The senator added: “What do you want to talk about? The things these men are obsessed with: one is rebuilding America and taking us in a better direction or Donald Trump, who is obsessed with revenge. H has been very clear, he is here to be retribution and I do not believe the presidential office should never be a weaponized against the people in this America who happened to disagree with you.”

Fetterman also defended Biden as the Democratic nominee in the face of concerns about his ability to carry on his campaign, following the CNN presidential debate.

After a reflection on his own senatorial election, Fetterman said: “One debate is not a career any more than Donald Trump’s 38 convictions for felonies are really going to define his reputation and his presidency.”

Bream added: “Just for clarity, 34 [felonies]. And he’s awaiting sentencing, and we’ll be covering that on July 11 ahead of the [Republican National Convention].”
