NY Mayor Eric Adams Accused of Sexual Assault By Former Colleague

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has been accused of sexual assault by a former City of New York coworker.
The accusation, first reported by The Messenger, was made in a legal filing late Wednesday.
“Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York,” the filing alleges.
Adams, at the time, was serving as a captain in the New York City police department. The transit bureau of the New York Police Department and the Guardian Association of the NYPD were also named in the lawsuit.
Through a spokesperson, the Mayor profusely denied the claim.
“The mayor does not know who this person is,” the spokesperson told Fox 5 New York. “If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it. But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim.”
The lawsuit, in which the plaintiff is seeking at least $5 million, was filed just days before the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act — a New York law which temporarily removed the statute of limitations for sexual assault accusers to file legal claims. Sean “Diddy” Combs, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Axl Rose are among those who have been sued in recent days.
In addition to the lawsuit, Mayor Adams is currently the subject of an unrelated FBI investigation looking into whether his 2021 campaign conspired with the Turkish government in an influence peddling scheme.
