Americans for Prosperity Action, a super PAC and central cog in the Koch donor network announced that it would back former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in her bid to secure the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday.

“In sharp contrast to recent elections that were dominated by the negative baggage of Donald Trump and in which good candidates lost races that should have been won, Nikki Haley, at the top of the ticket, would boost candidates up and down the ballot,” argued senior advisor Emily Seidel in a memo in which she also submitted that “the reason we’re joining this fight to help elect Nikki Haley isn’t just because we know she can win; it’s because of what she’ll do once she does.”

“The foremost challenge confronting our nation, affecting every American, is the economy,” continued Seidel. “Nikki Haley presents a bold and robust strategy to tackle the inflation that is making everything more expensive for American families – addressing the out-of-control government spending and simplifying the tax code to benefit the American people rather than special interests. Simultaneously, she has the courage to advocate for reforms to an entitlement system that makes promises it can’t keep.”

Seidel went on to outline the assistance AFP Action would provide the Haley campaign by putting “thousands of AFP Action activists and grassroots leaders into the field” as well as launching “extensive mail, digital, and connected television campaigns to supplement those on-the-ground efforts.”

According to the New York Times, AFP Action has spent over $9 million in independent expenditures opposing Trump’s campaign to hold onto the Republican nomination for a third consecutive cycle and had raised more than $70 million in funds to bolster that effort as of this summer.

Its endorsement of Haley comes amidst a sustained polling bump that has seen her standing in the early primary states rise significantly over the last several months.

In a statement, Haley said she was “honored to have the support of Americans for Prosperity Action, including its millions of grassroots members all across the country.”

“AFP Action’s members know that there is too much at stake in this election to sit on the sidelines,” she added. “This is a choice between freedom and socialism, individual liberty and big government, fiscal responsibility and spiraling debt. We have a country to save, and I’m grateful to have AFP Action by our side.”
