Lindsey Graham Snaps at CBS’ Brennan, Accuses Her of Anti-Trump Bias in Testy Interview: ‘You Should Worry About Reporting the News Fairly!’
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) got testy with CBS Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan — accusing her of a bias against President-elect Donald Trump.
In a contentious interview Sunday, the South Carolina senator took exception with Brennan’s questioning about Kash Patel — Trump’s pick to serve as the next Director of the FBI. Specifically, Brennan asked Graham about the list of 60 “deep state” enemies he published in a 2022 book.
“He’s got a list he’s published, Kash Patel,” Brennan said. “He published it in a book, of enemies. It includes people like the FBI director, Defense Secretary [Lloyd] Austin, [former Attorney General] Bill Barr, former White House counsel Pat Cipollone, former CIA director Gina Haspel, the head of CentCom. “Do you take him at his word here that these are an enemies list, and you’re going to put him in a law enforcement role to go after them?”
“I believe the hearing will expose him to be a very qualified man of the law,” Graham replied. “He wrote a book. He’ll have to answer questions about what’s in the book. But I’m ready to vote for him because I know him to say he never asked me about the Russia hoax that he exposed. People on the Right believe that he was part of the solution, not the problem.”
Brennan went on to ask Graham if he’s prepared to vote for Patel “no matter what.”
“I am ready to vote for Kash Patel,” Graham said. “Because you will never ask me the role he played in exposing the darkest moment of the FBI since J. Edgar Hoover. That’s why I trust him.”
“Ask him about going after journalists,” Brennan shot back — referring to Patel’s 2023 vow to “come after the people in the media … who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections.”
Graham did not appreciate the comment.
“You shouldn’t worry about Kash Patel,” Graham said. “You should worry about reporting the news fairly, which you don’t do when it comes to everything Trump!”
Out of time and forced to wrap, Brennan brushed past the senator’s insult.
“Lindsey Graham, you’re a guest on this program because we wanted to hear you out,” she said. “And we welcome you back, as we often do, any time to legacy media.”
