Donald Trump definitively ruled out former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former ambassador and governor Nikki Haley as possible future members of his administration in a “thanks” but no thanks post on his Truth Social platform Saturday.
Haley ran against Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination and ripped him repeatedly over the course of the campaign, including blasting the Madison Square Garden rally just weeks ago.
Pompeo has also had some noticeable moments of criticism for Trump, and defended Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis several times while in disputes with Trump. Pompeo did, however endorse Trump and express interest in joining the administration.
Nevertheless, Trump thanked them both for their service but said no thanks to them continuing it with his administration.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” Trump said in his post to the platform. “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.”
Other possible members of the Trump administration include both billionaire Elon Musk and former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., although no official decisions or posts have been announced at the time of this article.
