‘That is Crazy!’ Meet the Press Guest Shreds Reporter’s Defense of Biden Cronies
A guest on Meet the Press completely rejected a fellow panelist’s defense of former President Joe Biden’s allies who are pleading ignorance on his decline.
In a roundtable discussion on Sunday’s Meet the Press, NBC News political analyst Stephen Hayes scoffed at the suggestion from PBS NewsHour co-anchor Amna Nawaz that Biden allies did not observe any behavior that suggested he was not fit to serve as president.
“The consistency that I’m hearing from some Democrats when they’re asked about this … people who were close to [Biden], who saw him regularly, even in the final months of office, maintain to this day they never saw anything like what they saw at the debate in private,” Narwaz said. “And they also say, it’s not going to be an issue for them in 2028.”
Hayes blasted those making that claim.
“I’m sorry, that is crazy!” Hayes said. “That’s crazy for them to say!”
Biden’s decline has been a huge topic ahead of Tuesday’s publication of Original Sin — a book which has already yielded explosive revelations about the former president and efforts to conceal his cognitive fitness. Hayes believe the book makes clear that Democrats very much aware of Biden’s decline.
“One of the things that this book does is it provides chapter and verse, detail after overwhelming detail, that they did know,” Hayes said. “And that everybody knew. And look, the public knew! We knew. We knew! We watched it in real time.”
