Trump Attacks CNN’s Kaitlan Collins When She Grills Him About ‘Getting Ahead of’ Air Crash Probe
President Donald Trump attacked CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins at a press conference after she asked him if he’s “getting ahead” of events with his commentary on the D.C. air disaster.
The nation was stunned when an American Airlines flight with over 60 people aboard collided with a Black Hawk Army Helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport at 8:48 pm Wednesday night.
Trump reacted with a series of social media posts, and at a press briefing on Thursday morning he blamed former President Joe Biden and DEI for the disaster.
Collins challenged Trump over his scattershot remarks that appeared to place blame on his predecessor and DEI, even though the facts are still not known, causing the president to take a shot at her “not very smart” question as he replied:
KAITLAN COLLINS: We don’t yet know the names of the 67 people were killed. And you are blaming Democrats and DEI policies, and air traffic control, and seemingly the member of the U.S. military who was flying that Black Hawk helicopter.
Don’t you think you’re getting ahead of the investigation right now?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I don’t think so at all. I don’t think with the names of the people. You mean the names of the people that are on the plane? You think that’s going to make a difference?
KAITLAN COLLINS: Does it comfort their family to hear you blaming DEI policies?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: They are a group of people that have lost their lives. If you want a list of the names we can give you that we’ll be giving that very soon. And in coordination with American Airlines, we’re in coordination very strongly, obviously, with the military. But I think that’s not a very smart question.
KAITLAN COLLINS: But are you blaming air traffic controllers–.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I’m surprised coming from you. Please. Please.
