Trump Sounds Off on the ‘Globalist Wall Street Journal’ for Denouncing His ‘Unpopular’ Trade Wars: ‘No Idea What They Are Doing or Saying’

President Donald Trump sounded off on The Wall Street Journal over its criticism of the trade wars he’s plunged the country into on Thursday, accusing them of being “owned by the polluted thinking of the European Union.”

“The Globalist Wall Street Journal has no idea what they are doing or saying. They are owned by the polluted thinking of the European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of ‘screwing’ the United States of America,” wrote Trump on Truth Social. “Their (WSJ!) thinking is antiquated and weak, and very bad for the USA. But have no fear, we will WIN on everything!!! Egg prices are down, oil is down, interest rates are down, and TARIFF RELATED MONEY IS POURING INTO THE UNITED STATES. ‘The only thing you have to fear, is fear itself!'”

The Journal published its latest in a series of editorials deploring Trump’s trade policies on Wednesday, this time mocking the president over House Republicans’ decision to avoid an outright vote on Trump’s tariffs.

“GOP House leaders are no doubt trying to protect Members in swing districts where Mr. Trump’s tariffs are unpopular,” observed the Journal. “Meantime, only 37% of voters approve of Mr. Trump’s handling of the economy, which is striking given this was a large reason he was elected. Voters gave him a mandate to restore broad-based prosperity and lift real wages that had eroded under Mr. Biden’s inflation. But most Americans understand that tariffs are a tax on consumers and businesses.”

“While House Republicans can run from a vote, they can’t hide from voters in 2026 who may not find Mr. Trump’s tariffs beautiful,” it concluded.

In other pieces, its editorial board has called on someone to “sue” Trump over his tariff policy, as well as rebuked him over the pardons he handed out to participants in the January 6 Capitol riot, his decision to strip former government officials of their protective details, and his “rehabilitation” of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
