Former President Donald Trump told Fox News on Monday that he won’t return to Twitter despite Tesla CEO Elon Musk acquiring the social media platform.

The almost $44 billion acquisition was announced on Monday.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump said, referring to the social media platform he launched to compete with Twitter.

“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH,” the former president said.

Trump has not posted on TRUTH since its February launch.

“We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter,” he told Fox News. “Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can.”

“The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter,” said Trump.

Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter and other social media platforms after the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol.

In a Twitter statement announcing the Musk deal, the platform’s CEO, Parag Agrawal said, “Twitter has a purpose and relevance that impacts the entire world. Deeply proud of our teams and inspired by the work that has never been more important.”
