Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed on Wednesday she filed a complaint with the U.S. Capitol Police after late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel made a joke implying she deserved to be slapped by Will Smith for calling Republican Senators “pro-pro-pedophile.”

“Wow, where is Will Smith when you really need him?” Kimmel jested after explaining to the audience Greene’s outrageous comments regarding Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Susan Collins (R-ME). Greene maligned the three GOP senators over their support to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, who some right-wing leaders claim was too lenient in sentencing some child pornography cases.

Greene running to the police to file a report over a joke was roundly mocked on Twitter and an old video of her suggesting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi face execution for treason quickly went viral.

“She’s a traitor to our country, she’s guilty of treason,” Greene says in the video from 2019, which she posted to and has since deleted from Facebook.

“She took an oath to protect American citizens and uphold our laws. And she gives aid and comfort to our enemies who illegally invade our land. That’s what treason is. And by our law representatives and senators can be kicked out and no longer serve in our government. And it’s, uh, it’s a crime punishable by death is what treason is. Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason.”

CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski reposted the video Thursday, noting, “Marjorie Greene’s deleted FB video where she suggests Pelosi be executed for treason is getting a new look after saying she filed a police report over a Jimmy Kimmel joke.”

Kaczynski followed that up by saying “Before being elected to Congress, Greene repeatedly indicated support for executing Democrats politicians and Democratic officials.”

In January 2021, after Greene’s election to Congress, Kaczynski detailed in an article Greene’s many calls for violence against Democrats and her fondness for liking comments calling for violence.

“In one post, from January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said ‘a bullet to the head would be quicker’ to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In other posts, Greene liked comments about executing FBI agents who, in her eyes, were part of the ‘deep state’ working against Trump,” the article noted.
