WATCH: Rick Wilson Calls 1/6 an ‘Inside Job’ By EVERY Republican Who Didn’t Vote For Insurrection Commission

Republican strategist and Lincoln Project honcho Rick Wilson told SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah that every Republican who didn’t vote for the January 6th commission — which is almost all of them — is a participant in an “inside job” to overthrow the government.

On Friday’s edition of The Dean Obeidallah Show, the host talked with Wilson about the failure of Republicans — save a handful in the House and Senate — to support a bipartisan investigation into the Capitol insurrection, and asked how Democrats should proceed politically.

Dean Obeidallah: Is this an issue Democrats can use effectively for 2022, and if so, how should they frame it?

Rick Wilson: Democrats need to portray every single Republican who, the 147 who voted that day after the attack to certify Trump, and the ones since then except for the 35 that voted in favor of the commission, they need to be treated now as co-conspirators.

Democrats need too harden their message. They cannot treat these people as, they are not colleagues anymore. They consider the Democrats to be political enemies who must be destroyed.

Listen to JD Vance this week. He’s talking about destroying their political enemies. The Republicans. Democrats need to understand the Republicans view them not as competitors or colleagues, but as enemies to be destroyed.

So it is important to put this horrible day, which the American people by and large absolutely were horrified by, squarely on the Republican caucus. Because the Republican caucus is comprised of people who supported it, who encouraged it, who were part of it, whose staff members were encouraging it and were part of it.

It was an inside job, and we need to make sure that that message gets out to voters, because as much as people live in their ideological silos, even most Republicans don’t want to violently overthrow the US government for an election that doesn’t go their way. Not a big majority, but a small majority at least.
