‘Why is He Comparing Himself to Mandela?’ Fox’s Howard Kurtz Confronts a Trump Spox About Fmr. President’s Attacks on NY Judge

Fox News host Howard Kurtz confronted a spokesperson for former President Donald Trump on why the ex-commander in chief recently compared himself to Nelson Mandela.

In an interview on Fox News’ MediaBuzz Sunday, Kurtz — speaking with Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavittquoted a recent Truth Social post in which Trump attacked New York Judge Juan Merchan.

If this Partisan Hack wants to put me in the “clink” for speaking the open and obvious TRUTH, I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela – It will be my GREAT HONOR.” Trump wrote.

“Why is he comparing himself to Mandela?” Kurtz asked Leavitt. “And is he now worried about going to jail in this case?”

Leavitt completely dodged on the Mandela part of the question and instead pivoted to a more broad rant about the NY trial — in which she overstated the scope of the recent gag order imposed on Trump by Merchan.

“No, not at all,” Leavitt said. “Truth will ultimately prevail in this case, and in all of the cases. The Democrats want President Trump confined to a courtroom. Unfortunately, he’ll have to be on trial in a dirty New York City courtroom because Alvin Bragg is a far-Left district attorney who has spent more time persecuting President Trump than prosecuting real violent criminals on the streets of New York. President Trump is exposing the truth in all of these Biden led witch hunts. And that’s exactly why you see these gag orders coming down. Not only are they prosecuting him, but they want to silence him. It’s a complete violation of his First Amendment rights.”

Kurtz noted that the gag order does not prevent Trump from talking about the trial itself.

“Well, he can still talk about the case,” Kurtz said.
