20th Century Fox Starts ConanOnFox Twitter Account – Or Did They? (Update: They Didn’t)

Is FOX preparing for Conan O’Brien to join their network?

From the looks of a Twitter page registered to Twentieth Century Fox, it looks like the company is at least covering their bases in case it really does happen. > Update: It’s fake.

TMZ reports on the page, which you arrive at after being redirected from The WHOIS registration is to the Intellectual Property Department of Twentieth Century Fox.

The Twitter page looked like this around 3pmET…before it changed:

Then, temporarily, it was “suspended.” When it was back up, it looked like this, as it does now:

Let the speculation begin.

Someone at FOX having some fun at NBC’s expense (and without the knowledge of the top execs)? Signs there is a deal in the works? As the current tweet says, “stay tuned.”

> Update: As of 4:45pmET, the account is suspended again. Kate Aurthur of the Daily Beast tweets: “Fox source on @ConanonFOX: ‘From what we can tell, it’s a hoax.’

> Update 2: Now there’s a new account @FakeConanOnFOX – and it’s clearly the same person who ran the fake one. Alex Weprin of Broadcasting & Cable tweets the person filed a fake WHOIS registration which could cause some major problems. Either way, not real.
