ABC News Reporting Rahm Emanuel May Be Out Of The White House As Early As This Week
While the decision has not yet been made official, ABC News is reporting that their sources tell them White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel may be making an exits sometime later this week, and that the rumors are true: he is eyeing the mayorship of Chicago in the wake of Mayor Richard Daley‘s departure.
Specifically, ABC News reports the decision may be announced on Friday:
“Although no final decision has been made because of family considerations, ABC News has learned that White House officials are preparing for Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to announce on Friday — as Congress adjourns for recess — that he is leaving his post to explore a run for mayor of Chicago.”
As of yet there is no official word of Emanuel leaving the White House, though rumors have been circulating for months and have focused on everything from internal disagreements to a potential return to elected office. ABC also speculates that the President is considering senior adviser Pete Rouse as a replacement in the interim.
