Joe Boardman said on the blog, “On behalf of the entire Amtrak family, I offer our sincere sympathies and prayers for them and their loved ones. Amtrak takes full responsibility and deeply apologizes for our role in this tragic event.”

He expressed its thanks to the city of Philadelphia and the first responders who helped out all the injured train passengers. The Amtrak train had been going over 100 miles an hour, double the speed limit, when it crashed.
