Add Rochester to the ever-growing list of U.S. cities to have their Jewish cemeteries vandalized.

Thursday morning found five headstones toppled at the Waad Hakolel Cemetery (also known as the Stone Road Cemetery) in Rochester, New York.

“I don’t want to label it a hate crime. I don’t think there’s any proof of that. I don’t want to label it anti-Semitism. I don’t think there’s any proof of that, Michael Phillips, president of the non-profit managing the cemetery, said.

This marks the third vandalism of this type in as much as two weeks time — the first taking place in St. Louis, Missouri early last week, and the second in Philadelphia. The St. Louis incident saw over 100 headstones defiled, the second seeing “dozens.”

There has been a rash of vandalism and threats geared towards the Jewish community as of recent. It is unclear at this time if any of the incidents are related.
