Attorney Arrested for Telling Cops Not to Take Pictures of Her Client
A San Francisco public defender was arrested after refusing to let police officers take pictures of her client. The encounter was caught on video.
The public defender’s office said Jani Tillotson was simply defending her client against police intimidation and harassment — so much so that, as the video shows, she allowed a police officer to arrest her. Tillotson was charged with misdemeanor resisting or delaying arrest for obstructing a police investigation.
“I was arrested for what we do as public defenders every day,” Tillotson said of the incident. “I asked questions. I talked to my client and explained to him his rights. At that point, I was told I was interfering and taken into custody.”
