Authorities Investigate Suspicious Fire at Texas Mosque

A fire caused major damage at a Texas mosque on Friday afternoon, and authorities are calling it somewhat suspicious.

Firefighters shortly arrived on the scene, followed by arson investigators. There was major damage to the inside of the mosque and there were apparently multiple points of origin, suggesting it was arson and not an accident.

Some of the Muslim congregants said they believe it was deliberately set as a clear hate crime. One of them said, “We don’t have anything here high tech, cooking or kitchen, anything that can cause this kind of fire. The only thing is pointing to is it could be hate or something, you know.”

A nearby business provided worshippers a temporary place to pray as the investigation continues.
