‘Because It’s Not a Viable Option’: McCain Says Mexico Will Not Pay for Border Wall
CNN’s Manu Raju ran into Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Capitol Hill and wanted to get the former GOP presidential nominee’s take on President Donald Trump’s claims that Mexico will eventually pay the United States back for the cost of a border wall.
Raju asked McCain, “Obviously he’s talking about having Mexico pay for it. Do you think that’s a viable option?”
“No,” the lawmaker flatly said. When asked why he felt that way, McCain added “because it’s not a viable option.”
The Arizona Republican would further tell CNN that “taxpayers are paying a lot of money right.” He also noted that a wall in and of itself will not “secure the border.”
