Ben Carson Announces Presidential Exploratory Committee in New Video
In the exact opposite of breaking news, neurosurgeon headline-generator Ben Carson announced an exploratory committee for a 2016 presidential run.
Carson, who has teased a presidential run for a while now, has fared well in early polls of the 2016 GOP field. The only non-politician of the bunch, he largely established his brand through speaking engagements and Fox News punditry.
As a former doctor, Carson made healing the body politic the thematic motif of his introductory video. Over a major key melody Carson emphasized bolstering education, along with nods to a stronger foreign policy and generational debt.
“If I run for president, I do so with only one goal in mind: to heal and strengthen this great nation,” Carson said. “While I don’t claim to have an answer to every question that plagues us, I do have a passion to reach out, to listen, and build commonsense solutions to the problems that are holding us back as a nation.”
“I have spent most of my life caring for the health and well-being of children,” Carson said. “Today I am no longer their doctor, but I am more concerned about their health than ever.”
