Bill O’Reilly Admits He’s Only Covering Michelle Obama’s Spain Trip Because “It’s August”

Oh, Bill, trust us. We can relate. While there is still plenty going on in the world, it definitely seems like most of the juicier news stories seem to evaporate in the heat every summer. So it was certainly refreshing to hear Bill O’Reilly basically admit that the only reason he’s devoting a Factor segment to the furor over the First Lady’s trip to Spain because there’s really nothing else to talk about. After all, it is August.

O’Reilly was asking Juan Williams and Williams kept pointing out that he thought the reaction was overblown. Finally, O’Reilly admitted he was right but pushed Williams to answer the question anyway because, come on, they’ve got a show to put on.

“But there’s nothing else going on. Come on, Juan. It’s August. you know where Obama is today? He’s down in Texas, running around and raising money. What am I supposed to do? This is the biggest story, Juan, like it or not.”

Coming from a writer who was one crazed flight attendant away from having nothing to write about this afternoon (Glynnis got the Aqua Buddha story! Lucky!), I completely sympathize. Oh well, every day brings us closer to midterms, right?
