Remembering A Decade Of Bill O’Reilly Hip-Hop Feuds

Remember, early on in this innocent decade, when it was a big deal when Bill O'Reilly started criticizing rap music? Now, it seems to happen all the time. For someone opposed to the immorality and hedonism that he sees embraced in rap lyrics, O'Reilly knows how to start a hip-hop-style feud with some of the big names in the industry, including Ludacris, Nas, and Cam'ron. O'Reilly vs. Ludacris The most high-profile of O'Reilly's feuds with hip-hop to date came in 2002, when feuding with hip-hop was still 'edgy.' It was also a success: he got Pepsi to drop Ludacris as a spokesman, saying that his lyrics were all about a "life of guns, violence, drugs and disrespect of women." Ludacris struck back in "Number One Spot," among other songs: "Already offers on my 6th album from labels tryin to sign me | Respected highly, HIIII MR. Bill O'Reilly vs. 50 Cent O'Reilly used his "Pinheads and Patriots" segment to call 50 Cent a "pinhead" over his pre-election remarks that he wasn't sure if America was ready to elect a black president -- and that he would be worried for the safety of that president if it did. Bill O'Reilly vs. Eminem This time around, O'Reilly trained his sights on Eminem's "We Made You," which features the lyrics, "I'll invite Sarah Palin out to dinner, nail her... Baby, say hello to my little friend" and a porny, bad Palin lookalike in the music video. O'Reilly vs. Snoop Dogg In response to O'Reilly's attacks about his arrest record, Snoop Dogg fired back -- on Dutch TV. Snoop Dogg appeared on Dutch talk show Jensen! and made its host, Robert Jensen, an international star overnight, thanks in part to O'Reilly's backlash against the show the next day (when he offered a Factor invitation to Snoop; hasn't happened yet). But Snoop's profane, anti-O'Reilly rant is what really made the news (warning: when we say profane, we mean profane): "Fuck Bill O'Reilly... that bitchass motherfucker. He doesn't want to debate me. I'm too intellectual. I'm the equivalent of an Obama. My intellect is very deep. I have linguistics and dialects that he probably couldn't comprehend. More recently, O'Reilly took issue with Nas' involvement with Moveon.org, which he called "the new Klan." Nas' response, on The Colbert Report? Performing a new track, "Sly Fox."
