Black Students Protest School Official’s ‘Father’s Worst Nightmare’ Tweet

Black students at a Virginia school walked out of class this week to protest a retweet from a school official that said a photo of white girls and black boys going to some kind of dance was “every white girl’s father’s worst nightmare.” Here’s the tweet in question:

The tweet was sent out months ago, but only recently was brought to the attention of students. One took personal offense at being considered a nightmare to anyone, while another said, “We don’t want her to be fired, ’cause everybody needs a job. But yeah, transfer her, punish her, do something to let us know it has not gone on unnoticed.”

The school has yet to publicly comment, though a local branch of the NAACP has already weighed in and condemned the retweet.
