Born Free? Mitt Romney Chooses Kid Rock Tune For Campaign Theme Song
Mitt Romney appears determined to make Michigan a swing state next year by using the Great Lake State native Kid Rock ‘s “Born Free” as his campaign song.

The former Massachusetts governor’s campaign song choice is not to be mistaken for crooner Andy Williams‘ Oscar-winning “Born Free” (i.e. Born free, as free as the wind blows/As free as the grass grows/Born free to follow your heart), though arguably that version might fit Romney’s disposition considerably better.
Romney’s song choice still is a bit staid though, playing it safe in the same innocuous anthemic vein as President Obama‘s unadventurous use of U2’s City of Blinding Lights during the 2008 campaign.
For someone with a reputation for being vanilla, Romney should have combed further through Rock’s repertoire and gone with something with a little more joie de vie like say — “Bawitdaba“. Can you imagine Romney entering a stadium to ‘Bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy’? That totally would’ve been a fast-track to the nomination and would’ve put Michigan in the bag for the Mittster in the general election. It will interesting to see how well “Born Free” plays to Iowa voters though.
