BREAKING: Democratic Rebuttal to Nunes Memo Has Been Released
The Democratic counter-memo to the Nunes memo was released this afternoon… as Devin Nunes was speaking at CPAC.
And right at the top, this memo says, “FBI and DOJ officials did not ‘abuse’ the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) process, omit material information, or subvert this vital tool to spy on the Trump campaign.”
The Democratic minority says the Nunes memo “draws selectively on highly sensitive classified information” and says the FBI’s investigation was based on information “unrelated to the dossier.”
The rebuttal memo, which contains some big redactions, goes through the FISA application process and says the DOJ was fully transparent with the FISA court “about [Christopher] Steele’s background, credibility, and potential bias.”
There is also an entire section in the Democrats’ memo dedicated to “additional omissions, errors, and distortions in the majority’s memorandum.”
This not only include information about the DOJ and FISA court, but about those now-infamous texts between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
The Democrats’ memo calls this “irrelevant to the FISA application” and says it’s only there “in an effort to imply that political bias infected the FBI’s investigation and DOJ’s FISA applications.”
