As this week wound to a close, a flurry of reports indicated that presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would finally be interviewed by the FBI in connection to their investigation of State Department email practices during Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. Just after noon Saturday afternoon, the Clinton campaign confirmed that that interview had been completed. Here’s the full statement from Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill (via email from Hillary Clinton campaign):
“Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was Secretary. She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion. Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview.”
A Clinton campaign aide confirmed that the interview took place at FBI Headquarters in Washington DC this morning, and lasted approximately three and a half hours.
