Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto announced on Twitter today that Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán Leora has been taken into custody.

“Mission accomplished. We have him. I want to inform the Mexican people that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been detained,” Nieto says, in a translation from Washington Post. “My appreciation to the Cabinet of security of the Government of the Republic for this important achievement for the State of law in Mexico.”
“El Chapo” has been the subject of an international manhunt ever since the Sinaloa cartel crime boss escaped from a maximum security state prison last year on a motorcycle.
