Last night’s game between the LA Rams and the San Francisco 49ers was bad. Really bad. Historically bad. Fortunately, broadcaster Kevin Harlan and an unruly but elusive fan teamed up to save it.
Calling the play-by-play on radio for Westwood One, Harlan excitedly described, for roughly 35 seconds, the movements of a fan who rushed the field as if he was a punt returner who’d just broken one.
Further description simply will not do it justice. You just need to hear the incredible call for yourself, which has been synced to the video below, via Fox Sports’ Dieter Kurtenbach.

Harlan is well known for his highly excitable calls, perhaps serving as the chief rival to Fox’s Gus Johnson in that department. But during football games, he normally sticks to describing the actions of the men in helmets and cleats.
On Monday (and again, we cannot overstate how dreadful this game was), he thankfully made an exception.
“That was the most exciting thing to happen all night,” Harlan said.
