Brokaw Still Doesn’t Want to Talk Brian Williams: ‘Time to Move On’

For a while now, Tom Brokaw has been incredibly reticent to publicly discuss the Brian Williams-NBC internal drama. In a new interview this week with The Daily Beast, Brokaw makes it clear he still doesn’t want to talk about it.

In fact, the Daily Beast write-up notes how, multiple times, Brokaw said, “It’s time to move on,” “I’m not really commenting on it,” “These are all private conversations and I don’t want to go beyond that,” and “I’ve been on both sides of this equation for a long time. I know how persistent you are, but you’re not gonna win this one.”

All he will say is that what’s done is done and he “think[s] the world of” new Nightly News anchor Lester Holt.

“We have a terrific staff of people around the world,” Brokaw said, “and that’s my real concentration at the moment.”

There were reports in the past months that Brokaw’s relationship with Williams was a frosty one and he was really steamed about Williams’ various misstatements, but Brokaw denied all of it in another interview.
