Brzezinski Continues Trump Assault, Calls For ‘Mental Health’ Examination of GOP Candidate

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski has significantly turned up her rhetoric in recent weeks against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Just days after haranguing a black pro-Trump preacher live on-air (in a maneuver that my colleague Tommy Christopher called a “browbeating”) — a move that prompted the candidate himself to demand an apology — Brzezinski was at it again Monday morning. Now, the issue pivoted to the much-debated Trumpian Tweet over the weekend following the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge in Chicago.

Aldridge, a 32-year-old mother of four, was the cousin of NBA superstar and newly-acquired Bulls player Dwyane Wade. Trump controversially responded on Twitter with:

Morning Joe cohost Joe Scarborough asked point blank, “What kind of sickness infects the mind?” for someone to turn a senseless tragedy into a personal and political ploy in such a brazen way.

Scarborough cohost Brzezinski was ever less measured in her response to the latest flap from the GOP campaign trail. She said:

Let’s just take this seriously at this point — at other stages at other campaigns, a network might be snarky and get a psychologist out. I actually think it’s time to hear from somebody in the mental health community to look at this person who’s been on television for months and give us a sense of what we have going on here. And, I’m sorry, let’s stop pretending — we’re dealing with someone who we can completely understand. When you see somebody with problems, you know it.

“Let’s set up someone and ask the questions,” she concluded.
