Censors Scrub Video of Putin Offering Shawl to Chinese First Lady

 

Vladimir Putin was in China yesterday, along with other world leaders, for an APEC event. Putin was seating next to Peng Liyuan, the wife of the Chinese president, and his kind gesture to her ended up getting censored in China.

Cameras at the event caught Putin speaking with Liyuan and then offering her a shawl. He proceeds to drape it over her himself in a moment some observed to be rather intimate.

The moment got some play on Chinese social media and some news outlets posted the video online. But hours later, Chinese censors pulled it everywhere they could.
