Check Out NFL Commish Roger Goodell Running the 40 in a Full Suit

The NFL scouting combine for players entering the league in 2018 is wrapping up today in Indianapolis. Based on his 40 yard dash-time, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was wise to stay home.

As part of a charitable initiative, Goodell ran the 40 on Monday through the halls of the NFL offices in New York. Clad in a full suit and tie, the commish posted a time of 5.41 for his sprint — as workers in the office cheered him on.

The time of 5.41, though more than a full second slower than some of the fastest posted over the past few days in Indianapolis, is actually better than a few of the slowest in the history of the combine. The 59-year-old Goodell — who played football, basketball, and baseball in high school — covered the distance more than six-tenths of a second faster than former University of Houston offensive lineman Isaiah Thompson who, according to NFL.com, posted the slowest 40 time in the history of the combine.

“Piece of cake,” a visibly winded Goodell said afterwards.
