Chelsea Clinton Criticizes Cartoon Depicting Brett Kavanaugh’s Daughter: ‘Bullying His Kids’ Not OK

By now you may have seen this cartoon that spread around social media in the past few days, depicting Brett Kavanaugh‘s 10-year-old daughter:

The cartoon from Chris Britt was in reference to comments Kavanaugh made at his hearing last week, as he told the Washington Post:

“Kavanaugh is the one who ushered his own daughter into the national conversation by telling us his story” about her prayer, Britt said, defending the cartoon. He added: “The cartoon is not about his daughter — it’s about Brett Kavanaugh’s possible heavy drinking, his anger and his possibly sexually assaulting Doctor Ford.”

“That’s what we do in this business,” Britt said. “I based my cartoon on [Ford’s] testimony — I happen to believe what she said. Her testimony was credible and thoughtful, and that’s why I went where I did.”

Kavanaugh said during his testimony his daughter had recently suggested they pray for Christine Blasey Ford.

Britt has been roundly criticized online for stepping over the line, and the Illinois Times ended up clarifying that they did not publish the cartoon.

Britt himself said he doesn’t “mind people being angry with my cartoons,” but added that he’s received some serious threats and people have posted his address online, and that’s way out of bounds.

This afternoon, Chelsea Clinton weighed in and tweeted, “Please leave Judge Kavanaugh’s daughters alone. They do not belong in your cartoons, ‘jokes’, or skits. If you can’t make your point about Judge Kavanaugh, whatever it may be, without bullying his kids, it’s not worth making.”
