Chris Brown Axe’d as Daily Show Guest Following Objections From Staff
Viewers who watched The Daily Show last night might have noticed that, despite being officially booked for a guest appearance, R&B singer Chris Brown was a no-show. New reports suggest, however, that Brown’s appearance was scrapped without warning by Comedy Central in a seeming response to staff disapproval with him being on the show.
Reports from the past few days suggested that Brown’s appearance was a major source of tension for the production team, even though Trevor Noah planned to use their interview to address domestic violence issues. Indeed, The Daily Beast‘s Andrew Kirell indicated that staff hasn’t forgotten about things such as his violent dispute with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, getting kicked out of rehab in 2014, and other violent aspects of his history.
Washington Post noted that even though TV Guide and cable systems had Brown listed as the night’s special guest, Noah opened the show by announcing that Nick Cannon would be sitting with him instead.
