Donald Trump to Alex Jones: America Can’t Be Great Again ‘If I Don’t Win’ (UPDATED)
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told radio show host Alex Jones the United States had no chance of ever becoming great again if he didn’t win the 2016 election.
Throughout the course of the 30-minute interview, Jones and Trump rehashed some of the more prominent news stories surrounding the New York real estate mogul’s campaign. Greatest hits included Trump asking CNN for $5 million to attend the next GOP debate, and his repeated claim that “thousands and thousands” of Muslims cheered in New Jersey on Sept. 11, 2001.
Yet the best part came in the final few minutes, when the GOP front-runner put off plugging his book to make a statement about his chances of winning.
“I am in this to win it. I am not in this to say, ‘Oh gee I’ve done a really good job.'”
Trump continued, claiming that a “very powerful reporter” called him up recently to ask him about his campaign’s continued success and how that made him “feel.”
“It’s only good if we win. If I don’t win, I’ve wasted a lot of time,” he told Jones. “Because we can’t do anything to make our country great if I don’t win. I’ll be watching television someplace. Forget it.”
