Erick Erickson Disinvites Trump from Conservative Gathering Due to Megyn Kelly Remarks
Donald Trump was scheduled to appear at the RedState gathering on Saturday, but organizer Erick Erickson shut that down over Trump’s comments about Megyn Kelly.
In case you need a reminder, after trashing her all day, Trump actually said on CNN, “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… wherever.”
This went too far for Erickson, and he disinvited Trump tonight:
I have rescinded my invitation to Mr.Trump. While I have tried to give him great latitude, his remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) August 8, 2015
Also, just to stick it to him even more:
I have invited @MegynKelly to attend tomorrow night’s RedState Gathering event in place of Donald Trump.

But given it is last minute and she has a family and it is the weekend, @megynkelly probably can’t attend. But I’d love to have her.

I’ve been very sympathetic to Donald Trump because so many of the people who have led the party astray refuse to even treat him as a legitimate candidate.
But I also think that while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not trust.
His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just don’t want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. It just was wrong.
Erickson was on Fox News Friday afternoon talking with Gretchen Carlson, and he teased that he would be asking Trump about his donations to Hillary Clinton.
So much for that.
