Everyone Is Talking About D’Angelo’s Stirring Tonight Show Prince Tribute
On Tuesday night, D’Angelo performed a cover of Prince‘s Sometimes It Snows in April on The Tonight Show, just days after the shocking death of the 57-year-old music legend. D’Angelo’s performance, which featured back up vocals from Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, has created a lot of buzz on social media since it aired late last night.
On Monday night’s Tonight Show, Fallon devoted a ten minute segment to telling some pretty awesome stories from his interactions with Prince over the years, with sentiments from The Roots as well. Considering the long partnership between The Roots and D’Angelo, it is unsurprising that The Tonight Show is where the musician opted to perform his tribute last night. Many people have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on the purple-drenched performance from Tonight, including MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.
@FallonTonight @TheDangelo @MayaRudolph WOW. All I can say is wow. So beautiful. You did Prince & this song so much justice. THANK YOU! ?
