Ex-NY Gov. Spitzer Being Investigated for Allegedly Choking a Woman
Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is reportedly being investigated over allegations that he assaulted and choked a woman last night.
Law enforcement sources spoke to both NBC News and The New York Post, saying that Spitzer had allegedly gone to the Plaza Hotel with a woman appearing to be in her 20s.
They had a dispute and Spitzer allegedly assaulted and choked her. She called 911 to tell the police what happened and said she had a breakdown and slashed her wrists. After the cops showed up, she was rushed to the hospital.
Some reports have suggested there is video of Spitzer with the woman going to the hotel.
Spitzer has not been charged yet, and the unnamed woman’s relationship to Spitzer is not entirely known yet. A spokesperson for the former governor said there’s “no truth” to these allegations.
Spitzer infamously resigned from office in 2008 after revelations that he was seeing prostitutes. He stayed out of public life for a few years before mounting a comeback with a show on CNN. It was cancelled, and he soon after attempted to run for New York comptroller. He ended up losing the Democratic primary.
