Fox News Panel Clashes Over Maxine Waters, Civility: Trump Told People to Rough Up Protesters!

A Fox News panel debate got heated Monday after a guest expressed support for the comments of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) over the weekend, in which she called on supporters to tell Cabinet members “they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

In a tense discussion on Your World with Neil Cavuto, Democratic strategist Christy Setzer that Waters did not try to incite violence — unlike previous comments from President Donald Trump.

“I don’t think that we have responded in kind,” Setzer said of Democrats. She added, “[Trump] actively [asked supporters] to take violence against protestors.”

There was a bit of crosstalk between Setzer and Cavuto, before the host cut off his guest.

“Please listen to me,” Cavuto said. He added, “You’re fine with [Waters]. But it were done in reverse, you wouldn’t be fine with it.”

Setzer replied by referencing remarks from Trump about wanting a protestor to be carried out of his rally in a stretcher.

“This is escalating rhetoric,” said Olympic Media managing editor Katie Frates — expressing the conservative view. “You’re essentially saying mob someone outside of a gas station. And again, you don’t know the intentions of the person that may then go on to do that. So what if someone is attacked? What if something violent happens? And then you turn around and say, ‘Maxine Waters was telling people to do that.’ It’s not a healthy dialogue.”

Setzer fired back by recalling Pizzagate — “A crazy conspiracy [that] actually led someone to take a gun to my local pizza place and try to shoot it up because they heard this crazy idea on the Internet by Alex Jones and others that Hillary Clinton and John Podesta were up to no good.”

“I don’t want to get into a tit-for-tat,” Cavuto said — calling a halt to the discussion.
